2003 Annual Meeting

It didn't happen in 2002.  The Annual Meeting was cancelled due to a blizzard.  This year's Annual Meeting made it by one day.  We escaped the storm, amendments were approved, Adele Lebow was honored and Jack Connelly entertained everyone with his captivating talk about his experiences as President of the PGA of America.  Click here for pictures of the Annual Meeting.

Liz Haines successfully defended two titles at Whitford and won the Farnum Cup and the Silver Cross.

Jewel Slesnick from Lookaway is the Class C Champion with a

Charles S. Powell Memorial Cup
With 64 points, Lookaway's Susan and Michael Egan won the Sixty-fifth Annual Charles S. Powell Memorial Cup on Philmont's North Course.

Griscom Cup
The Griscom Cup is hosted by the club of the previous year's winning team. Commonwealth National Golf Club was this year's site due to Kristin and Scott Carney's win in 2003. It will return to Commonwealth in 2004 as Debbie Craig and Brett Diakon (pictured below) are this year's winners with a gross 74.

Meghan Bolger has made history again! 
She became the first in WGAP history to win five consecutive 
Match Play Championships.

Ida E. Dixon Cup
Early finisher Heidi Greenleaf's 77-11-66
held up throughout the day making her the winner of the 
Ida E. Dixon Cup by two strokes.

Mater et Filia & Lady-Junior Girl


It's Huntingdon Valley again!
On a day of extreme heat, Cathy and Katie Sibel 
|defended successfully and won the Mater et Filia for the third time.

  It's Talamore again!
For the second year in a row a team from Talamore 
won the Lady-Junior Girl.  This year's winners are 
Ashley Szewczuk and Lynn Wrobel.

Effie Derr Robey Cup

Repeating their original score of 91-17 - 74, Mary McAfee and Suzanne Decker from Indian Valley CC won the Effie Derr Robey Cup in an 18-hole playoff against teams from Radley Run and Overbrook.  For all results and pictures, click here.

 


Inter-City Matches 
VICTORY!
Our team traveled to Cape Cod and fought rain, fog, cold and wind
along with players from New York and Massachusetts to win the 2003

Nonna Barlow Cup

In less than ideal weather conditions, Lisa McGill and Lynne Thomson won the Nonna Barlow Cup for the second time. The Sunnybrook pair had a four over par 78 to defeat a field of 62 pairs at Merion Golf Club's East Course. For all results and pictures, click here.

 


FOX CUP

The Margaret Crozer Fox Cup is awarded to the player, in the first eleven Cups of the Inter-Club Team Matches, who wins the greatest number of holes in her matches.  She must have participated in and won, all five matches. All matches must be played on teams in the first eleven Cups.

THIS YEAR' WINNER IS MARJORY LEIDY FROM INDIAN VALLEY WITH 29 POINTS.

 


THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Merion Golf Club's first team, winner in 2002, 
successfully defended and won the Philadelphia Cup for the 59th time.

Chairmen's Scramble

A two under par 33 earned Barbara Jacobsen, Mimi DeShong, 
Cynthia Hunsberger and Cindy Farruggio first place 
in the WGAP 9-hole Chairmen’s Scramble. 

A warm sunny day at Bala Golf Club was enjoyed by WGAP Golf Chairmen and Executive Committee Members. Golf was followed by a wonderful buffet luncheon and interesting discussion on numerous submitted topics.  Click here for more results.
