Liz Haines
The 55th Annual Senior Championship was
won by Liz Haines from Merion. With a 36-hole score of 155, she beat
former winners Bonnie George and Janice Albert by 5 strokes.
Brandywine's Charlotte Balick won the Class A Super-Seniors for the
5th time.

Mary Thayer Farnum Cup
|
Tying the tournament record of 140,
set by Dorothy Porter in 1973, Liz Haines won the Mary Thayer Farnum
Cup for the 3rd time. She also set a new low record of 216 and won
the Silver Cross for the 5th time. Talamore's Tara Joy Connelly
finished second.

Hole-in-One on Sunnybrook's 5th hole.

Foursome Championship for the Boyle Cup are Green Valley's Marji
& Andy Goldman. In a match that went to the 17th hole on
Philmont's South Course, they defeated Sonja Stutchfield and Michael
Potopa from Little Mill

Scott and Kristin Carney

Kristin and Scott Carney from Commonwealth were Class C Winners in 1998 and Class B Winners in 2000 and 2001. This year, again competing in Class B, they won Low Gross of the
Field with a 73.
Carol and Alex Fager won Class A and Carol and Steve Dressel were repeat winners in Class C.

Last year they won with a record high number of
points - 70. This year they won again and are the only pair to win the Powell Cup two
consecutive years. They are Iris Sitkin and Nathan Herring, playing at
their home course, Philmont, successful defenders with 56 points.

History was made at Spring-Ford Country Club on July 12th as Meghan Bolger became only the fourth woman in 105 years to win four consecutive WGAP Match Play Championships. The others are Nonna Barlow (1912-1915), Laura Hammond (1995-1998) and this year's Runner-up (pictured left) Ann Laughlin (1974-1977).

Chairmen's Scramble
WGAP Golf Chairmen
kicked off the 2002 Season with a 9-hole Scramble at Radley Run.
On a beautiful warm day, 54 players enjoyed the course, the
fabulous luncheon and meeting and learning from their fellow Golf
Chairmen.
