Tournament of Champions

 

Alexandra Frazier of Gulph Mills won the Fifteenth Annual Tournament of Champions with a two over par 76 on Philmont’s North Course. Philadelphia Country Club’s Kerry Rutan was Runner-up with a 79. Click here for more results.

Seniors' Championship

Janice Albert, Green Valley, defeated Meg Devitt, Rolling Green, in an 18-hole playoff at Downingtown Country Club to become the overall low gross winner of the Senior Championships.

They tied with 36-hole scores of 169 during regular play September 13th at Greenacres and September 19th at Downingtown. Janice won the Class A Seniors and Meg the Class A Super-Seniors.

Mary Thayer Farnum Cup

Loraine C. Jones from Merion won the Mary Thayer Farnum Cup with a 36-hole score of 156. Combined with her 84 from the qualifying round of the Women’s Match Play Championship, Loraine is also the winner of the Association’s Silver Cross. Click here for more results.



Griscom Cup

Recording an even par 72, Jacqueline and Robert Drygas from Sandy Run won the Family Mixed Foursome for the Griscom Cup. With birds on three of the par 3’s, this father daughter team was the winning combination in a field of 68 pairs competing at Spring-Ford Country Club. Click here for more results.


Boyle Cup

Heavy rain and thunderstorms washed out two bridges on Philmont Country Club's North Course and very wet conditions made the use of carts impossible. The qualifying round was cancelled and players were seeded for Wednesday's match play by the total handicap indexes of the partners. Following additional rain on Tuesday night, carts again were not permitted and the event was cancelled for 2000. 


Husband and Wife

The Class A Husband and Wife Tournament at Laurel Creek was won by Karen & Francis McFadden (pictured above) of Overbrook with a two under par 70. Playing the Chapman System in all four events, Class B was won by Roddy and John Jennings from Philadelphia Cricket, Class C by Melrose's Karen & Jack Raguso and Class D by Patricia and Russell Oakes of Yardley. Junior Girl's Championship

Kelsey Engman, Merion, successfully defended her Junior Girls’ Championship title when she defeated Aronimink’s Lauren Eveland 1 up in the match play finals. Nicole Kouch, Torresdale-Frankford, is the Junior-Junior Champion and Mary Elizabeth Bullock from Llanerchis Runner-up. Click here for more results.

Memorial Cup

Joan and Bill Higgins of Indian Valley won the 62nd Annual Charles S. Powell Memorial Cup at St. Davids Golf Club. Pat & John Guenther from Heidelberg won High Points in Class A on a match of cards. Click here for more results.


Women's Individual Match Play Championship

In a final match delayed by thunder and lightning, Meghan Bolger, Tavistock, defeated Bonnie George, Philmont, and won the Women's Individual Match Play Championship for the second year in a row. Meghan had a 69 in the morning round on Merion's East Course. Click here for more results.

IDA E. Dixon Cup

Fourteen year old Meredith Godwin, from the host club, won the 83rd Annual Ida E. Dixon Cup with a net 66. Her four over par gross score of 76, combined with a 10 handicap, was enough to top the field of 106 players. Jackie Winans of West Chester Golf & Country Club finished second with a net 67. MATER ET FILIA & LADY JUNIOR GIRL

The results for the Mater are now available. The Mother-Daughter combination of Catharine Sibel and Katie Sibel captured the Mater with a  score of 84. Barbara Papso and Jenna Pellecchia captured the Lady Junior title with a score of 88. Click here for more results.
